Ally's Story

Ally came to the center feeling overwhelmed and scared. She had just found out she was pregnant and didn’t know what to do. In her uncertainty, she had already ordered the abortion pill online, and it was on its way to her house. The father of the baby had “ghosted” her after leaving the military, and she hadn’t been able to reach him. He didn’t even know about the pregnancy.

Ally was in her last semester of college, just months away from graduating, and couldn’t imagine how a baby would fit into her life right now. Her heart was torn, and she was struggling deeply with what to do next. As we sat and talked through her options, she decided to have an ultrasound—just to be sure of what was happening before making any final decisions.

When the ultrasound began, something didn’t look quite right. There were no visible signs of a gestational sac, even though Ally showed no symptoms that anything was wrong. Following the advice of our medical director, we sent her to the ER for further evaluation. There, doctors confirmed that they couldn’t see a viable pregnancy either—and they couldn’t rule out the possibility of an ectopic pregnancy.

A few days later, it was confirmed: Ally did, in fact, have an ectopic pregnancy. She was rushed into surgery right away. It’s chilling to think what might have happened if she hadn’t come to the center that day. If she had taken the abortion pill as planned, she likely would have begun experiencing symptoms she believed were part of the abortion process—when in reality, her life was in danger from a rupturing ectopic pregnancy.

We are so thankful that Ally reached out and that we could help keep her safe. Her story is a powerful reminder of why we do what we do—to walk beside women in their most difficult moments, offering care, compassion, and truth. We’ve continued to stay in touch with Ally, and she has shared how grateful she is for the support, concern, and kindness she received from everyone at Turning Point.
