From Aisle to Opportunity: A Chance Encounter That Sparked Generational Change

It started like any ordinary day—a quick trip to Target with my 3-year-old son. As we wandered the aisles, I heard the unmistakable sound of a distressed child. About 25 feet away, a little boy sat crying in the main part of a shopping cart, his infant sister in a car seat up front. Their mother looked overwhelmed, visibly struggling to calm them both.

I felt a nudge in my spirit and approached her gently. I introduced myself and let her know I worked with Turning Point, a local organization that supports mothers and families in our community. Her eyes welled with tears as she shared her story—she had recently fled a domestic violence situation out of state, with very little family or support here. She was scared, exhausted, and unsure of what to do next.
