During our conversation, Lexi was in tears and said she felt "so alone." We spent time discussing the various resources available to her and explored the options she could consider regarding the pregnancy.
After conducting a pregnancy test, Lexi chose to proceed with an ultrasound. To our surprise, the ultrasound revealed an 11-week-old fetus, moving around with a clear heartbeat. Watching her baby move on the screen, Lexi broke down in tears. She admitted she had no idea how far along she was and was overwhelmed by a mix of emotions—fear and joy—upon seeing her baby’s heartbeat.
We continued to sit with her, offering practical help and suggesting the option of another ultrasound before she reached her second trimester. By the end of our time together, Lexi felt ready to go home and tell her parents she was expecting a baby.
With the support of her family and later a reconciliation with her boyfriend, Lexi enrolled in our educational classes. As she earned points, she began to grow in confidence and self-esteem. She eventually gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, whom she named Noah. Lexi also enrolled in a local community college and began taking classes.
Reflecting on that day, Lexi says she is grateful for the moment she came in, spoke with someone who truly listened and wanted to help, and for the life-changing experience of seeing her baby on the ultrasound screen.
