A very distressed couple came into the center requesting a pregnancy test and ultrasound. After meeting with Lisa first, and discovering that the man with her was her fiancé Joe, and that she wanted him in the room with her, he was brought in. She and he began to tell the “story” together and what they revealed was something we don’t see very often. He is in the military and had been deployed for almost a year, he had recently returned, and during the last month of the deployment she had been with another man. She stated that she had told Joe everything. She wanted to find out who the father of this baby she was pregnant with, because if it wasn’t Joe’s she wanted to proceed with an abortion. Joe was very attentive to her, and told her that “I don’t care who the father is, I love you and will raise this baby as mine”. She said immediately, “I can’t do that to you, and I won’t do that to you”. After discussing with them many of the questions they had, we then proceeded to an ultrasound, it was inconclusive at that time.
We continued to be in touch and available for support and questions, and repeat ultrasounds. We finally determined that it was an intrauterine pregnancy and when they saw the heartbeat together, they were relieved, but still she was unsure. He on the other hand was more resolved to be the dad. He stated, “I love this baby already.”
The ultrasounds included are the first one we did and then the last one we did for them. We continued to be in touch, she became very involved in the education classes we have.
They delivered a beautiful baby boy, and mom, baby and Dad are doing great. They came in again for another ultrasound of a second pregnancy and at this time that little boy is 15 months old and looks EXACTLY like his dad! God is absolutely amazing!
